5150 is a game by Ed Teixeira, published by Two Hour Wargames. Please support Two Hour Wargames by buying their products. The Mission Generator follows the book's own steps (5150: New Beginnings p.57–120) to set up a mission. You'll need the book to play it.
← Back to the Mission Generator
1. Quick start
- Type your Star's Rep and your Band size (counting the Star).
- Press Generate mission.
- Play the Encounters listed under "How it plays", in order, using the book's pages. Roll the people you meet in NPC Squads.
2. Kinds of mission
- Job Offer (the usual way to find work, p.95–98): rolls who's hiring (1d6 + your Rep), what the Job is, the story behind it, the pay and the Encounters it takes. Choose an Employer to skip the hiring roll.
- Involuntary Encounter (p.75): rolls the month's first Encounter. A Job Offer result becomes a Job.
- Voluntary Encounter (planet) (p.64): rolls one of the six planet-bound choices.
- Or pick one Encounter by name: Confrontation, Defend, Escort, Find, Raid, Robbery, Chillin', or a cargo or passenger run.
Area and Day Part can be fixed, or rolled the book's way (2d6 on the City Transit Map, p.74).
3. Reading the briefing
- The Job or What's going on: the story, the pay, and the chain of Encounters (p.98), e.g. "Find, then Escort them back".
- Where and when: the Area and its Law Level for the Day Part, and the building with its number of PEFs (p.65–67). Remember the street PEFs going in and out.
- Who's waiting: the Who Are They result for the Encounter, how many (½d6 against your Band), and whether you've met them before (p.63).
- The rules: the Encounter's objective, PEFs and special instructions in short, with pages.
- Afterwards: the pay-off and the chance the targets come after you.
- Along the bottom, every roll made, so you can check it against the book.
4. Space jobs
Hauling Cargo and Hauling Passengers roll how much there is to carry (against your Rep), how far it goes, and whose planet it's delivered to, with its Class and Law Level. Set your current Ring first (New Hope is Ring 3). Each Ring travelled means a Contact in Space: use the Table Roller's Ship Combat section.
5. Saving, pictures and printing
- Your last 20 missions are remembered in this browser. Remove deletes one; Clear all deletes them all.
- PNG saves a picture of a briefing, for videos or sharing.
- Print / PDF prints one briefing per page. Pick Greyscale colours first to save ink.
